Essay Contest

Voices of the Fatherless essay competition hosts two divisions - junior high and senior high. Each year the contest sparks conversations between parents and their students about the impact of growing up fatherless.

Essay Question: What is Fatherlessness and how does it affect youth?

Students living in Harris, Montgomery, Fort Bend, Grimes, Walker, Liberty, Waller, San Jacinto, Brazoria, Galveston, Lavaca, Jefferson, or Austin county are eligible to compete. Grades 7-9 may participate in the junior high division. Students in grades 10-12 compete in the senior high division. Essays should be 300-500 words and will be judged on originality, content and accuracy.

Senior High: 1st place - $300   2nd place - $250   3rd place - $200

Junior High: 1st place - $200   2nd place - $150   3rd place - $100

Voices of the Fatherless also funds classroom parties for schools, youth groups and Sunday school classes who participate as a class project.
