When separation, divorce, unwed births occur the children are the ones who sometimes suffer the most. Children from single parent families may blame themselves.
Growing up in a home when you feel like you are the reason for parents’ separation is stressful for children. A boy or girl living with this unresolved emotional dilemma needs the ability to ask questions. They need to know the decisions of their parents weren’t their fault. What is the answer?
Parents need to learn how to create a H.O.M.E.- a place where Honest Open Meaningful Expressions can occur.
There needs to be an opportunity to allow their childrento express themselves. Sometimes asking them to write in a journal helps. When children aren’t given the freedom to express themselves it may produces less than idea behavior. Ask our teachers, they are the ones who deal with these issues daily.
What would happen if the practice of “child centric” single parenting occurred? I’ve included a copy of a paternal parents agreement for consideration. There are no perfect parents because none of us are perfect.
If you are a single parent give yourself a break. All of us have to make the best out of what we have been given. The good news is help is available. The Bible says ….’Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty. (Zechariah 4:6 NIV)
